Training and Support Services to School Boards of Trustees
As a follow up on last year's Board of Trustees Training, the Ministry of Education have funded an additional Training Contract through New Zealand School Trustees Association (NZSTA) to support Boards in the Use of National Standards in the Implementation of the NZ Curriculum. Once again, The Education Group has been contracted to deliver a series of workshops that cover the following areas:
- The Board's Key Role and Responsibility to ensure improved progress and achievement outcomes for all Students
- Understanding National Standards and the Board's Role in the Curriculum
- The board's review process to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum and use of national standards
- Developing your Charter incorporating National Standards
Workshop Dates and Programme
The first workshop offered will cover:
- Governance roles and responsibilities to ensure improved progress and achievement outcomes for all Students
- The educational model of governance and its principles
- The distinction between governance and management
Date: Thursday 10th March 6.00 – 7.00
Note: This is a repeat of last year's modules but would be of benefit to schools that were unable to attend the 2010 sessions.
The second workshop will cover the board's role in promoting:
- An understanding of National Standards
- The Boards role in the New Zealand Curriculum
Dates: Thursday 10 March 7.00 – 9.00 p.m. OR Wednesday 30 March 7.00 – 9.00 p.m (Wed 30 March cancelled).
Following on from these two initial workshops, two additional workshops will be offered covering during Term 2:
- The board's review process to ensure effective implementation of the curriculum and use of national standards
Date: Thursday 19 May 7.00 – 9.00 p.m.
- Developing your Charter incorporating National Standards
Date: Wednesday 25 May 7.00 – 9.00 p.m.
Venue: Kohia Terrace School, Kohia Terrace, Epsom
There may also be the opportunity for some follow up work with individually BOT's or with small local clusters.
