The Education Group

The Education Group was established in 2004 and is based in Auckland. It grew out of a valued professional relationship between the directors over many years and well established and highly credible reputations as education researchers and consultants. The directors are are Jan Hill, Kay Hawk, Kerry Taylor and Nicky Knight. We work across the education sector from early childhood to tertiary although most of our work is focused in primary and secondary schools in Auckland and throughout New Zealand.

Every child in New Zealand deserves the best education that adults can provide and children’s needs should guide all decisions. With this in mind we promote ethical professional practice, relationships and decision making.

Efficacy

Self efficacy is critically important to being an effective learner. Keeping professionally up to date builds our self efficacy which, in turn, enables us to contribute to the self efficacy of students, teachers, leaders and of the organisations themselves.

Empathy

Our work is focused on people and relationships. Being empathetic is essential to building constructive relationships that enable schools to identify and solve their own problems and sustain development in the long term.

We recognise the uniqueness of each school, organisation and situation and work flexibly to find the balance between this and current knowledge of theory, research and practice.
